For many ardent followers of Cameron Winery, winemaker John Paul’s
characterful Chardonnays are the insider’s choice. In the
challenging 2011 vintage, Paul and his team declassified fruit from
their top-notch Clos Electrique and Abbey Ridge vineyards and
knocked this wine out of the ballpark. Crisp, crunchy, with a touch
of the funk: that’s right up our alley! We could wax poetic
(especially after our third or fourth glass), but there’s no way we
could top Cameron assistant winemaker Tom Sivilli’s irreverent
description: “With aromas of kaffir lime leaf, marzipan, papaya,
almond milk and lemon verbena, the 2011 Dundee Hills chardonnay
could be added to your green curry, except that would be weird -
plus you would lose the buzz. The mouth is a classic equilateral
triangle: bright acid, toasty full flavor and rich mouth feel. This
descriptor makes sense if you drink enough of it.” Friends, this
will go fast, so be sure to reserve your case now for enjoyment
tonight and over the coming decade.
