The Grignolino grape is a charming curiosity among Piedmont's portfolio of less famous varieties. It produces a crisp, breezy, fruity and refreshing wine best served chilled on a hot summer afternoon. It is just one of three grapes la Miraja works with, alongside Barbera and the equally curious Ruche'. Winemaker Eugenio Gatti's devotion to this traditionally dismissed grape is obvious in the quality of the wine. As refreshing and thirst-quenching as any, his wine is clean and neatly balanced, with a note of dark floral aromas to complement the fruit, and an impressively mineral-tinted finish.
