Chateau de Rougeon Bourgogne Pinot Noir "Ozanon" 2019

Château de Rougeon’s vigneronne, Isabelle Bouchard, is the sixth generation to farm this hallowed, high-altitude granite and limestone terroir in the Côte Chalonnaise. Isabelle and her children are crafting an estimable, organic portfolio of classic Burgundian varieties exclusively from massale vines. Rougeon’s Bourgogne Ozanon reflects a saturated cherry skin robe followed by bright red Burgundy aromas of lifted black cherries accented by notes of rose petals, damp limestone soil, and geranium petals. Balancing a chewy kernel of red cherry fruit, the wine conveys the rare and special confluence of tangy acidity, and a persistent undercurrent of bright limestone minerals. Sweet cherry and pomegranate fruit segue the palate to a long, tangy finish featuring lip-dusting limestone soil. Enjoy now and over the next five years with roast chicken, light pâtés and terrines, pan-seared rib steaks, and sautéed morels in a cream sauce. This is one heck of a fine Bourgogne rouge that over-delivers at its price.
