Loire Valley, FranceA blend of Cabernets Franc and Sauvignon sourced from the estate’s finest terroirs on the high plateaus of Saint-Aubin-de-Luigne, Forges’ Les 3C is a brilliant representation of the noble Cabernets as expressed on the incomparable shale soils of the Anjou. Translucent black-ruby in the glass, the cuvee Les 3C casts aromas of black plums, dried leaves, cured meat, black pepper and herbs. Impeccably balanced on the palate, the wine alternates waves of black currants, plum skin, plentiful fine tannins, leafy underbrush, and smoky soil notes. Spicy and peppery on the finish, the 3C presents further suggestions of black tea, button mushrooms, menthol, and salty minerals. Firmly structured with chewy tannins, the wine is delicious and savory today, but conveys the poise and balance to reward three to five years’ aging in your cool cellar. Pair this superb and comfortably priced Anjou-Villages with cured meats, aged goat cheeses, braised rabbit and pork dishes, and grilled beef.
