This superb Chenin Blanc was born from the disasterously frost-struck 2017 vintage in the Loire. Perhaps no appellation suffered more than Savennieres, wherre 90% of the grapes were lost. The great Domaine du Closel was left with hardly any grapes to make, so they purchased fruit from the southern bank in the wider Anjou region. The result is perhaps lighter and less crusted with the intense minerality than the region and Domaine are both famous for, but no less delicious, zesty, and complex.
