Willamette Valley, Oregon
The 2019 Willamette Valley vintage is a welcome return to the cool, elegant stylings that we adore. The wines offer exceptional purity and aromatic complexity and are intense yet weightless, with seamless tannins and energetic acidity. A luminescent pale cherry-garnet robe, Goodfellow’s 2019 Willamette Valley Pinot – crafted from Whistling Ridge, Durant, Lewman, Temperance Hill and Fir Crest Vineyard fruit – presents gorgeous aromas of pie cherries, rhubarb, red raspberries, rose petals, and nutmeg. Graceful and suave on the attack, the wine tightens mid-palate to present savory tannins framing a saturated kernel of tart cherry, pomegranate, and red raspberry fruit. Overtones of cloves, cinnamon, and star anise segue the Pinot to a long, lip-dusting and gripping finish. Goodfellow’s tangy red-fruited 2018 Pinot demands food and will pair effortlessly now and over the coming five years with broiled salmon, roast chicken, gratin dauphinois, and sautéed mushrooms. Another marvelous effort by Marcus Goodfellow!
