Willamette Valley, Oregon
Jason and Clark Hanson espouse a non-interventionist approach to winemaking. Emphasizing freshness, acidity, and transparency, Hanson’s 2015 Pinot casts a rusty garnet robe followed by spicy Willamette Valley Pinot aromas of sour cherries, cigar tobacco, dill, and nutmeg. Bright yet earthy on the palate, Hanson’s Pinot delivers tangy notes of cranberries, black raspberries, Bing cherries, sassafras, vanilla, black tea, and herb-tinged tannins. Full of personality, the wine adds a piquant, peppery finish that takes us back to the delicious Oregon Pinots of the 1980s. Enjoyable by itself, Hanson’s Pinot is ideally paired with roast chicken, alder plank salmon, duck confit, vegetable gratins, and earthy braised lentils. Enjoy now and over the coming three years.
