J.C. Somers is the collaboration between Jay Christopher Somers and his wife Ronda Newell-Somers. After founding and developing the J.Christopher brand, they have returned to their roots under the J.C. Somers moniker to craft small quantities of focused, elegant and terroir-driven wines made from top sites in the Willamette Valley. Casting a beautiful translucent ruby hue, Somers’ Joie de Chien leaps from the glass with classic Dundee Hills Pinot aromas of earthy cranberries, Bing cherries, and rhubarb. Fashioned exclusively from Abbey Ridge fruit, the Joie de Chien is brisk on the attack, segueing to tart, chewy old-school Oregon Pinot fruit complemented by notes of savory herbs, menthol, and loamy earth. Enticing Pinot fruit emerges mid-palate to lead the wine to its long pie cherry and tart strawberry-tinged finish. Earthy sous bois and mushroom notes follow as the wine lingers. Somers’ Joie de Chien is truly a fun and delicious Pinot that drinks well now and shows the poise to reward two or three years in your cool cellar.
