J.K. Carrière’s gifted winemaker Jim Prosser fashions this beautiful, whole-cluster pressed White Pinot Noir from three vineyards in Oregon’s Chehalem Mountains and Eola-Amity Hills AVAs. Prosser’s notes indicate that his Glass White Pinot Noir is crafted using an ancient method for producing rosés in Champagne. He adds lees to enrich the wine and add a touch of earthiness. The result is one of Willamette Valley’s most serious and delicious rosés. A luminous pale watermelon hue, the 2021 Glass opens with lovely aromas of red raspberries, lime leaf, and pink rose petals. Bracing and vibrant on the palate, the wine meshes citrus expressions of pink grapefruit and tangerines with wild yeast top notes, blond tobacco, and freshly chopped herbs. The brisk finish is bone-dry, sapid, and spine-tingling with reprises of tart raspberries, vanilla bean, and a tactile resinous texture. Pair this delicious rosé lightly chilled with broiled salmon, grilled ahi, barbecued chicken, grilled squashes, and pan seared pork chops.
