A three vintage sampler of Chateau d'Issan's expertly crafted value wine from vineyards adjacent to their fabled Margaux estate. Enjoy a thrilling study of the influence of vintage in these three beautiful wines.
2016: Marked by its firm, cheek dusting tannins, flavors of blackcurrant, blue fruits, earth and graphite are balanced by a very light touch of oak (lightly roasted coffee). Moderately full bodied with enough acidity to balance, it leaves the impression of sticky clay on the finish. Structured enough to continue to develop complexity for at least another 5 years. ($24.99 reg.)
2017: The most delicate of the trio, it is also the most pleasant and approachable out of the gate. The '17 shows elegant fruit aromas of cassis and fresh blackberry, violet floral aromas, as well as savory, earth-driven flavors of damp leaves and dark soil. Its bright, juicy acidity makes it a pleasure to drink now, and medium body will allow it to be paired with a wide variety of plates. ($19.99 reg.)
2018: Intensity and structure are the words that come to mind here. Bright, ripe fruit flavors of black plum, blueberries jump out of the glass, balanced by sweet baking spices and vanilla. Aromas of earth and blonde coffee add a savory component to the background. Its ample tannins are ripe and chewy, giving it a full body that will help it continue to develop for many years to come. While pleasant and complex now, this is the one for the cellar and will only improve in the coming 10-12 years. ($22.99 reg.)
Each case sampler contains four bottles of these vintages. Reg. value $271.88
