For generations the Tessari family has tended vineyards in the heart of the Veneto’s Soave Classico zone. Recognizing the superiority of their high-altitude vineyards, the family ceased selling its fruit to the local cooperative in 1982 and focused their efforts on producing the highest quality Soaves under their Suavia label. The Tessari’s 2019 Soave Classico, fashioned from indigenous Garganega, shines with a lovely lemon-gold color, offering a dazzling bouquet of fleshy Comice pears, jasmine blossoms, almond meal, white pepper, and flinty minerals. Ample and fruit-forward on the palate, the wine opens to reveal notes of Golden Delicious apples, Mirabelle plums, lemon oil, and flinty volcanic soils. Clean and fresh on the back-end, the Soave lingers on the palate while adding nuances of freshly cut fennel, star fruit, sappy herbs, and sweet almond flesh. This is serious Soave from the historical heart of the appellation that exudes class.
