Thevenet & Fils Bourgogne Rouge "Les Clos" 2018

This gorgeous soil-driven, single-vineyard Pinot Noir from Burgundy’s southern reaches is an absolute steal for its modest tariff. Jean-Claude Thevenet’s superb expressions of the Mâconnais’ finest crus are always big hits with our discerning Burgundy clientele. This month we’re honored to present Thevenet’s rare red wine, sourced from a superbly situated single vineyard called Les Clos in the village of Bussieres. Sporting a translucent rusty garnet color in the glass, the 2018 Les Clos presents dusty mineral-driven aromas of cranberries, red raspberries, chalky earth, and rose petals. The wine’s suave Burgundian palate alternates notes of tart cherries and tangy raspberries framed by soft tannins, earthy rhubarb, and a persistent limestone soil signature. Bright minerals, balancing acidity, and appetizing notes of savory herbs carry the wine to its long finish. Pair now and over the next three years with poultry, pork, stews, and rich recipes featuring morel mushrooms.
